Before You Travel

Happy Journey: Keep in Mind Before Your Trip with Us

Before embarking on your adventure with Peru Cultural Horizons, here’s essential information to ensure you’re well-prepared for the journey ahead.

Tour Briefing

You’ll receive a pre-tour briefing, ideally two days before your trek departure. This session will cover the tour itinerary, necessary equipment, altitude considerations, and weather conditions. We’ll also address any inquiries or doubts to ensure you fully understand the itinerary.

Acclimatization

To enhance your experience and minimize the risk of altitude sickness, it’s highly recommended that you arrive in Cusco at least two days before your trek. Symptoms of altitude sickness can include headaches, stomach issues, and tingling in the hands. To help prevent these symptoms, consider medications like acetazolamide, drink coca tea, and stay hydrated. If altitude sickness persists, descending to a lower elevation may be necessary as a last resort.

Your dedicated specialist will take the time to understand your preferences and build them into an itinerary to match, working to your budget. He or she will keep perfecting it until you’re completely happy and ready to book.

Trekking Tips

Set a steady pace and take breaks as needed to catch your breath—this helps reduce fatigue and allows you to enjoy the hike more. For beginner hikers, wearing sturdy hiking boots and using trekking poles can help maintain balance and stability.
