Difficulty Levels of Our Tours

Our tours are classified into levels of technical and physical effort to help you choose the right adventure for your fitness level and experience.

1. Easy

These activities are a walk in the park! Enjoy the scenery, history, and time with loved ones without exhausting yourself. No special training, gear, or acclimatization is needed for an “Easy” trek or tour. The terrain is generally flat and comfortable, well-traveled, making it accessible for everyone.

2. Moderate

Before embarking on a “Moderate” trek, it’s beneficial to be at least partly acclimatized to the high altitude of the Andes, as it affects your oxygenation, energy levels, and hydration. These tours remain manageable without special training if you’ve spent a day or two at high altitude. Expect moderate up- and downhill walking, with occasional rough patches or less-traveled sections.

Your dedicated specialist will take the time to understand your preferences and build them into an itinerary to match, working to your budget. He or she will keep perfecting it until you’re completely happy and ready to book.

3. Challenging

“Challenging” treks require acclimatization to the high altitude of the Andes. Spending 2-3 days or more at high altitude is advisable. Hiking shoes and possibly trekking poles are recommended for these treks. You should be in good physical shape, and some prior training—like running, biking, or strenuous workouts—will be beneficial. The terrain can be rough, featuring steep inclines and declines, and typically lasts several hours.

4. Formidable

“Formidable” treks are our most demanding adventures, requiring serious effort but offering immense rewards. Being in excellent physical condition is essential. Acclimatization to the Andes’ high altitude is a must; aim to spend 4-5 days or more at altitude. Hiking shoes and trekking poles are strongly recommended. Training is crucial to prepare for the strenuous nature of these trips. Expect to spend an entire day in infrequently traveled areas with rough paths.

Conclusion

When selecting a hiking or trekking route, it’s vital to choose one that aligns with your fitness level and hiking experience. Research the trail beforehand, including its length, elevation gain, altitude, and potential hazards. With proper preparation, you can enjoy a safe and rewarding hiking experience!
